Multi-Campus Programs

Multi-Campus Programs

The purpose of the division of Multi-Campus Programs is to provide, through traditional and alternative delivery systems, academic credit classes on the Blountville campus and at other campus locations in support of the College’s Mission to increase access to higher education for the citizens of the region. Classes provide lifelong learning opportunities to individuals seeking to attain career and personal development goals. Campuses and public school sites are utilized to deliver classes in underserved communities. Admission requirements for evening and distance education students are identical to requirements for students in the regular daytime program. The quality of instruction governing credit courses offered during the evening on any campus through non-traditional program formats is maintained at the same level as those courses offered on campus during the day and is equivalent in all academic considerations.

Services to students enrolled in the evening, distance education, and non-traditional programs coordinated by the division of Multi-Campus Programs are afforded the same educational and support services as students enrolled in traditional programs. The Student Information Center, the Office of Admissions and Records, the Advising Resource Center, the Office of Business Affairs, the Library, the Bookstore, and other services are provided during select hours. The Multi-Campus Programs office is open 8:00 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Fridays when classes are in session. For more information regarding Multi-Campus Programs and services, please refer to the Northeast State Web page at www.NortheastState.edu//Multi-Campus-Programs/Multi-Campus-Programs.

To respond to community needs, the division of Multi-Campus Programs welcomes suggestions and requests for arranging credit courses on campus during the evening or at off-campus locations. The office is located in Room F100, Faculty Office Building, telephone 423.323.0221.

Accelerated Studies Program (ASP)

The Accelerated Studies Program (ASP) is designed to provide students an opportunity to “accelerate” course work. ASP courses are organized utilizing a seven-week schedule therefore allowing students to complete two semesters of course work in one semester (example: BIOL 2010  and 2020 ).

High School Programs and Services

Career and Technical Education (CTE)

Career and Technical Education’s (CTE) primary goal is to link career and technical education programs at the secondary level with Associate of Applied Science degree programs at the post-secondary level. These linkages focus on establishing and maintaining a High School Transitions Executive Council, CTE dual enrollment courses and Career Academy options, local dual credit opportunities, Career Day activities, and management of the Perkins Grant. Local dual credit and CTE dual enrollment allow students to earn college credit in Associate of Applied Science degree programs prior to graduating from high school. CTE hosts several campus events each year with the goal of teaching high school students about career pathways and academic programs within the applied science academic areas. CTE is also responsible for developing strategies and implementing programs that increase the enrollment, retention, and placement of students in Associate of Applied Science degree programs. For additional information, please contact 423.354.5166.

University Parallel Dual Enrollment Program

University Parallel Dual Enrollment is a cooperative effort between local high schools, home-schools, and Northeast State Community College. This program provides qualified high school students an opportunity to earn college credit by enrolling in college classes while still in high school. Students may earn up to 12 hours of transferable college credit each semester and satisfy specific courses required for high school graduation through University Parallel Dual Enrollment. The curriculum is specifically designed to fulfill the individual course requirements of high schools participating in the program. As a result, individual program offerings may vary by high school or school system. Questions regarding a particular program offering may be directed to the high school counselor or Northeast State’s Director of University Parallel Dual Enrollment. For additional information, please contact 423.354.5186.

Distance Learning Programs

Interactive Television Courses (ITV)

Interactive Television Courses (ITV) are designed to offer students greater access to educational programs and training. Selected courses are offered via an interactive television loop among campuses. Using this format, an instructor can teach from a single location and interact in real time with students present in one or more of the ITV classrooms. Course content and requirements are identical to a traditional, lecture-based class. Interactive classrooms are located in C2202 and C2203 on the Blountville campus; E123 and E125 at Northeast State in Elizabethton; G105 at Northeast State at Gray; J1114 and J1116 at Northeast State at Johnson City; KC216 at Northeast State at Kingsport; M100 at Johnson County High School, and M100 at Unicoi County High School. For more information about ITV courses, please refer to the Northeast State Web page at www.NortheastState.edu/Multi-Campus-Programs/Interactive-Television.

Internet Courses

Internet courses offer students the opportunity to complete all or part of the work for a particular course via the Internet. These courses may follow a modified traditional class schedule or may meet only at selected times throughout the semester. To complete all requirements for these courses, students must be able to access the Internet. Students may access the Internet through computer facilities on any campus or via secure access on their own. For more information about Northeast State’s online courses, please refer to the Northeast State Web page at www.NortheastState.edu/Multi-Campus-Programs/Online-Learning/Internet-Courses.

Hybrid Courses

Hybrid courses allow students more time with the instructor while offering approximately half of the course content online. Additionally, hybrid courses are often grouped to allow students to take a full course load while attending two days or evenings per week. For more information about hybrid courses, please refer to the Northeast State Web page at www.NortheastState.edu/Multi-Campus-Programs/Online-Learning/Hybrid-Courses.

The institutions in the collaboration are governed by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR). Courses completed via the TN eCampus are entirely online and transferable among all the participating institutions. Individuals should have basic skills such as keyboarding and the ability to access the World Wide Web. Individual counseling and assessment may result in the scheduling of additional courses to overcome all deficiencies in English, mathematics, and reading. To learn more about the TN eCampus, please click the “TN eCampus Information” link below. Students interested in taking TN eCampus courses should contact an advisor in the Advising Resource Center at 423.323.0214 or email tnecampus@NortheastState.edu

For all TN eCampus courses, students are admitted through their home school. All degree-seeking students must submit ACT scores or take the appropriate placement test and meet the requirements of the admitting school. Test scores may require the completion of one or more Learning Support courses. The student should enroll for these courses through the declared home college or university.

The link below provides a course equivalency guide for students enrolling in TN eCampus courses.

Students planning to graduate in a standard Northeast State program may replace any course in their program listing with an equivalent TN eCampus course.
