CHEM 2010 - ♦Organic Chemistry I


Organic Chemistry I is an examination of the compounds of carbon, including the uniqueness of carbon bonding and molecular structure. Coverage includes nomenclature and reactions of
alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, alkyl halides, alcohols and ethers. Small-scale laboratory synthesis of organic molecules and instrumental methods include nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR),
infrared (IR) and mass spectrometry (MS). Analytical methods also include various methods of chromatography.
