AVIT 1410 - Fluid Lines: Materials, Hardware, and Processes Fluid Lines: Materials, Hardware, and Processes will teach students tubing and hose materials, applications, sizes, fittings, rigid line fabrication, installation, and inspection techniques/practices. Students will also learn the various aircraft materials, hardware, and processes including the various types of nondestructive inspection and be able to perform simple inspections using dye penetrant, eddy current, ultrasonic, and magnetic particle inspection. Students will understand the basic principles of heat treatment of both ferrous and nonferrous metals and be able to distinguish between properly and improperly made welds. This course also introduces the student to the selection of cleaning materials, emphasizing their relationship with the type of material being cleaned. It stresses the identification of the various types of corrosion, the evaluation of corrosion damage, the proper way of removing the corrosion deposits, and the treatment of the corroded area.
