Additional Information


*Students transferring to the University of Tennessee at Knoxville should take an Introduction to Ethics course as one of their humanities/fine arts courses or as an alternative guided elective and complete MATH 2050 , Calculus-based Probability and Statistics. UTK accepts Northeast State’s MATH 2080 in place of MATH 2050.

**Students who are not prepared for MATH 1630  or MATH 1710  will also need MATH 1100  based on placement testing. Students transferring to Middle Tennessee State University or University of Tennessee at Knoxville should take MATH 1630. Students transferring to Austin Peay State University, Tennessee State University, University of Memphis, University of Tennessee at Chattanooga or University of Tennessee at Martin should take MATH 1710. East Tennessee State University requires MATH 1530. TTU requires MATH 1130. Johnson University-MATH 1130 or MATH 1530.

***MATH 1830 : Applied Calculus or equivalent is NOT required at University of Tennessee at Martin, Middle Tennessee State University, or Tennessee Technological University. MATH 1830 is prerequisite to MATH 2050 for UTK requirement.

****Students who plan to transfer to UTK should take MGT 201 equivalent, if available (BUSN 2330 or BUSN 1305 , if BUSN 2330 not offered), as their guided elective.

Students who plan to transfer to UTK will be required to demonstrate intermediate level competency in Foreign Language before graduating from UTK. Students may demonstrate intermediate level competence after transferring to UTK.

Students who plan to transfer to UTK will be required to complete ENGL 295 at UTK if they have not completed an equivalent course at their community college. Advisors are invited to contact the UTK Transfer Center to learn more about course equivalencies.

Additional Information Regarding Foreign Language


At some universities, foreign language may be required in certain programs that lead to the Bachelor of Science Degree. Complete information regarding foreign language requirements at each university may be found in the transfer and articulation websites of the Tennessee Board of Regents and the University of Tennessee System. Community college students are encouraged to be familiar with foreign language requirements at the universities and, if applicable, complete the requirements before transferring.
