Computer Information Technology - Concentration: Programming

The Programming Concentration is a preparation for a career as a programmer or software engineer. Emphasis is placed on issues related to knowing how to use the features of object programming languages like Java, the design and implementation of classes and objects, and the process of developing and maintaining software. Students will also develop strong critical thinking skills and will learn by doing along with real-world internship experiences. Upon successfully completing this program, the student will be academically prepared for the Oracle certified Associate (Java Programmer Certification).

Note: All courses must be from the Approved Courses for General Education  courses for each category listed in the General Education section of this catalog.

Learning Support


Additional courses may be required to overcome deficiencies in English, mathematics, and reading.

Transfer Requirements


* Students who intend to transfer to ETSU in Computer Science should take CITC 1900  instead of EDUC 1030 and take COMM 2055  for the communication elective.
