General Technology

The General Technology program is designed for students who wish to complete a two-year technical degree applicable to immediate employment. The program allows students flexibility in selecting courses that can meet specific educational and employment goals. The program prepares students for unique positions in the workplace for which specified degree programs do not currently exist. It is not intended for large-scale application, but is to be used to meet customized, industry-specific needs and/or unique academic and career goals identified by the student.

The program may be customized: General Education - minimum of 15-17 credit hours; Major Field Core - minimum of 18 credit hours; Completion Pathway Courses - remaining 25 credit hours. Total semester credit hours of 60-63. The curriculum developed within this framework must be clarified in an individualized plan established with guidance from an assigned advisor. If the student has a unique combination of experiences or a unique career goal that has the potential of enhanced employment opportunities, this may also lead to a specialized unique curriculum. The limitation of the curriculum to two (2) existing programs is designed to ensure that students have the proper depth of experience, training, and skills to begin work in the chosen field upon successful completion of their customized program of study.

Students interested in the General Technology degree program should confer with the Dean of Technologies for individual assessment and advisement.
